Vintage Equipment: 1970 Topps (Part I)

Lots of fun equipment cards in this set.

Don McMahon wore #47, as noted by the previous owner of this card. His glove is #35, which belonged to fellow reliever Frank Linzy.

Names on gloves were pretty commonplace, but nicknames weren't. Lindy McDaniel's looks like it says "L-MID" though it's probably "L McD".
Managers with bats are a rarity on cards. The number on the lighter bat is visible - #2 Mike Andrews.
Mike Lum #28 is holding at least one, maybe two bats with a #6 on them. #6 belonged to Clete Boyer.
Before he was Charlie, Twins rookie Chuck Manuel wore #9. He is holding bat #34, used by Cotton Nash, who had brief careers in the American League and the NBA.
Deron Johnson, #11, but has the bat of #8 Tony Taylor.

  1. You don't ever hear about Cotton Nash. I was gonna say that I don't recall him ever getting a playing days card, but after looking I see that he's on one of those dual rookie cards from '71.
