These posts are certainly getting smaller. I'm guessing as more and more money went into the game in the 1980s, I'm guessing players were more protective of their equipment.
Paul Mirabella's nickname, "Bells" can be seen on his glove, along with the number 42. He wore #42 in 1980 and 1981 with the Blue Jays. With Seattle he wore #52. (Dave Henderson wore #42 for Seattle, in honor of Jackie Robinson.)
Atlanta's Albert Hall wore #2, but the top of the bat he is using in this spring training game has the number 5, which belonged to slugger Bob Horner.
Well, now I know to pick up a 1985 Ricky Nelson card for my Spike Owen player collection! Nice work! :-)

ReplyDeleteI don't if the plan is to keep going as far into future as you can, but if so, it'll be interesting to see what you're able to find once you reach the 90's.
