Player Profile: Brian Bass

I have two cards of Brian Bass. This one is from 2008 Topps.

Playing career: Brian Bass pitched in 101 major league games for the Twins, Orioles and Pirates, going 9-7 with a save and a 5.16 ERA.

Where he is now: In July of 2013 he retired from baseball and became an instructor at the Baseball Warehouse in Owings Mills, MD.

Interesting stories: His retirement was announced on his wife’s blog, which has some interesting photos and posts that show the life of a professional baseball player. Bass pitched briefly and unsuccessfully in Korea, and a blog post of hers about rude fans in that country sparked a huge (and mostly supportive) reaction by Korean fans after being featured in an online story from a Korean newspaper.

My memories: Only know him from his card.

Google Autocomplete results: He is second when you type Brian Bas, between Brian Basloe, Senior Vice President of Suite and Ticket Sales for the Brooklyn Nets, and Brian Basili, a runner at Villanova who recently won a steeplechase event despite suffering a gruesome broken arm crashing into a steeple. Another prominent Brian Bass is a DJ.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Chris Bass.
