Poor Al

Gotta love the descriptions on the backs of 1995 Topps cards, like this one on Al Martin's card, with no hint of irony:

"Al underwent wrist surgery on August 6th, and, on August 7th, the Pirates gave away Al Martin wristbands!"

Ouch! Even more ironic, Martin's replacement in left that day, Steve Pegues, when 2-4 and drove in a key run in the Pirates' one-run victory over St. Louis. Al Martin - who needs him!
