1969 MLB PhotoStamps lot

The 1969 MLB PhotoStamps set may not be the most exciting, but I was able to get a lot of them fairly cheaply - I figure getting 1960s cards for under $0.20 a card is always nice to do.

All of the stamps were mounted on cardboard, probably by some young collector back in '69. I don't mind; it makes them sturdier anyway. Some were on dark cardboard; some were on light cardboard, just one on this very intriguing design. I imagine this is what kept the price low (no other bidders).
There was heavy duplication and mostly commons, but there were still some pretty big names.
There are no logos and largely generic photos, but some of these cards stood out, like Steve Hamilton's "star" signature, Rich Rollins's glasses, and Bill Hands's exaggerated follow-through.

  1. I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE STUCK THEM ON SOMETHING THAT WOULDN'T ALLOW FOR THE "TRANSPORTATION" OF THE STAMPS. IN A WAY IT WAS A GOOD THING.

  3. Great find! I was unaware of these. I've since placed a few on my Want List.

  4. I really like the cardboard back featuring the card carrying case. It would have been cool had the collector who glued these down had taken a bunch of these and formed a puzzle.

  5. That is a lot of duplicates, hopefully you'll be able to find someone to trade them to.
