The front: Fantastic card, showing the Murray family’s sweet
swing. This is Shea Stadium, which means this is June 15, 1980, when the Giants
won 3-0. Murray went one for four; his second inning single off Pat Zachry was
the first run of the game.
The back: The other Murray brothers, Venice and Leon, played
one season each in the Giants organization.
The player: 1980 was almost all of Murray’s MLB experience.
He appeared in four more games for the Giants in 1983.
The man: He now does baseball coaching in the San Francisco
area.
My collection: I have two of his cards, 1981 Fleer and 1981
Topps. I would be interested in trading for 1978 Cramer Phoenix Giants #18.
