1981 Topps Steve Mura

The front: Looks like Mark Fidrych, talking to the baseball. Certainly one of the quirkier shots in the set.

The back: Mura led Tulane in wins and ERA in 1975 and 1976.
The player: After a solid 1980, Mura had a rough 1981, leading the National League with 14 losses in the strike-shortened season. He was then traded to the Cardinals as a throw-in to the Ozzie Smith trade, and he bounced back with a 12-11 record and a 4.05 ERA. The Cardinals won the World Series that year, but Mura did not appear in the postseason. He ended his career with brief stints for the White Sox and A’s.

The man: Mura has kept a low profile since his playing days. His son Kyle Mura played several seasons in the minor leagues.

My collection: I have 12 of his cards, from 1979 to 1986. I would be interested in trading for 1982 Topps Traded #79.
