The front: Simple spring training posed shot with a variety
of trees and shrubbery in the background.
The back: Dotson attended Anderson High School in
Cincinnati.
The player: Dotson spent almost a decade in the White Sox
starting rotation, despite having only one really good season. In 1983 he went
22-7 with a 3.23 ERA, but he struck out only 137 and walked a league-leading
106, a sure sign that the success was unsustainable. He then had four seasons
of losing records and rising ERAs. In one of the many bad Yankee trades of the
late 1980s, the Yankees sent Dan Pasqua to Chicago for Dotson. In a
year-and-a-half in the Bronx he struggled to the tune of a 5.13 ERA.
The man: Dotson has coached in the White Sox organization
for many years, and is currently the pitching coordinator for the team.
My collection: I have 42 of his cards, from 1981 to 1990. I
would be interested in trading for 1989 Score Yankees #23.
