Player Profile: Randy Braun

I have four cards of Randy Braun. This one is from 1987 ProCards.

Playing career: First baseman Randy Braun played in the Astros, Mariners and Expos organizations from 1981 to 1990, hitting .284 with 125 HR and 623 RBI. Despite excellent numbers (most notably hitting .314 with 21 HR and 90 RBI at AAA Calgary in 1986) he was never promoted to the major leagues. A fuller account of his career can be found at The Greatest 21 Days.

Where he is now: SVP, Retail Banking at German American Bancorp in Jasper, IN.

My memories: Only know him from his card.

Google Autocomplete results: He is fourth when you type Randy Bra, between Randy Bradley, Assistant Professor of Marketing at Haslam College, and Randy Braz, President of Black Phoenix Management. The first entry when you google Randy Braun is not the ballplayer but a photographer.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Ryan Braun (the former Royals pitcher).

  1. Randy was my teammate in College at Missouri Southern. Unfortunately, he sustained an arm injury warming up for first game against Arkansas. He had an absolute cannon for an arm but must not have ever recovered or he would not have been a first base.
