Player Profile: Mike Bordick

I have 66 cards of Mike Bordick. This one is from 1995 Score.

Playing career: Shortstop Mike Bordick was known primarily for his defense in his fourteen-year career, mostly with Oakland and Baltimore. Though he never won a Gold Glove award, his .982 fielding percentage is third all-time among shortstops. He was also a pretty good hitter, with a .260 career batting average and 91 home runs.

Where he is now: An announcer and special assignment instructor for the Orioles.

My memories: I remember him for his defensive reputation but nothing really specific.

Google Autocomplete results: He is ninth when you type Mike Bo, between Mike Bossy, the former Islanders star, and Mike Bolsinger, a pitcher in the Diamondbacks organization. There do not appear to be any other prominent Mike Bordicks.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Glenn Borgmann.
