Player Profile: Jimmy Anderson

I have five cards of Jimmy Anderson. This one is from 2001 Upper Deck Vintage.

Playing career: Jimmy Anderson came up with the Pirates in 1999 and went 2-1 with a 3.99 ERA in 13 games. From 2000-2004, He pitched in 109 games, and lost twice as many games as he won (23-46) and never posted an ERA below 5.00.

My memories: I remember him being kind of a symbol of the awful Pirates teams in the early 2000s. Sadly he was one of their best pitchers.

Where he is now: He is an instructor at McKinney Baseball, a co-founder of baseballclearinghouse.net, and manager of the Mid Atlantic Pirates Scout Team.

Google Autocomplete results: When you type Jimmy Ande, the second and third results are Jimmy Anderson and Jimmy Anderson Pitcher, which fit between Jimmy Andersson, a Swedish hockey player, and Jimmy Anderson Blues Band, a Georgia-based group. The first entry when you google Jimmy Anderson is not the baseball player but an English cricket star.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Josh Anderson.
