Love is in the air

It's Valentine's Day, and pitchers and catchers finally report. Let's celebrate with some baseball cards that show love.

It was natural for Braves fans to heart their team in 1992, as they successfully defended their National League pennant.

But "especially Mike Stanton"?While he ended up being one of the best middle relievers of the 1990s, the Braves had a lot of stars bigger than him. Or was he some kind of sex symbol in Atlanta, a southern Bucky Dent or Lee Mazzilli?

While the fans spontaneously show the love for some players, others may seem a little desperate for love. I sure hope Eric Davis isn't the only member of his fan club.

The fans aren't the only ones who love the players. Good clubhouse chemistry is important, they say. So love among the players is a good thing, right?

Some players are better at the whole Valentine's Day thing than others. Looks like Devon White got a lot of Valentines.

Keith Comstock, however, gave his girlfriend a baseball for V-Day instead of flowers. Here's the result:

  1. I talked to Keith once about that card and it was his idea and the ball is either pinned or taped to his pants.

  2. How did you come to talk about it? Do you know him personally?
