Hobbies are music and going to the beach: Lots of beaches in
the Mayaguez area of Puerto Rico where he grew up.
Favorite sports announcer is Tim McCarver: Though he was
primarily a Mets broadcaster at the time, McCarver did do some national
telecasts.
Favorite player as a kid was Roberto Alomar: Cordero was 15
years old when Alomar was a rookie, so “kid” is a stretch. They were later
teammates in Cleveland.
Might have been in law enforcement if he hadn’t been an
athlete: Cordero has been on the wrong side of the law with multiple arrests
for domestic violence and drunk driving.
Pet peeve is hotel rooms not being ready: One of the
domestic violence incidents occurred at an Orlando hotel in 2002.
Where he is now: A coach at Kutsher’s Sports Academy in
Great Barrington, MA.
