Here is a sign that really evokes the past for me. The term "Chinese Laundry" is almost never used now, but at one time there were over 3,000 in New York City. Recently, a Lower East Side bar uncovered this sign for the Wah Lin Chinese Laundry on Allen Street, and decided to keep it. The sign and the location really look like they haven't changed in eighty years. Here is some more information on the history of Chinese laundries in New York.
