The front: Simple
bat-on-shoulder pose at Shea Stadium.
The back: In 1969 Bobby Trevino had a 37-game hitting streak
that remains a Texas League record.
The player: After the 1981 season the Reds traded for him,
thinking he could replace Johnny Bench. However he hit just .251 with 1 HR and
33 RBI in 120 games, leading the Reds to ultimately look elsewhere for Bench’s
replacement. Trevino would bounce around the National League as a backup
catcher throughout the rest of the 1980s.
The man: Trevino has been an Astros announcer since 1996.
My collection: I have 35 of his cards, from 1980 to 1990. I
would be interested in trading for 1984 Fleer Update #118.
