A legendary Angel.
It's the same date as Angels teammate Bobby Valentine. That day, the Angels and Giants got into some spring training base-brawl, Vietnam POW negotiations were in high gear, and a French wrestler named "Andre the Giant" appeared in his first match in the United States.
Robinson doesn't appear on many cards as an Angel, but it's possible the photo for his '74 Topps Stamp was taken at the same time.
Those '74 deckle edge cards are cool. I never see those in the wild.
ReplyDeleteEven though I associate Robinson with the Reds, Orioles, and Giants (80's manager)... thanks to his 73 and 74T flagship cards, I am reminded of his days in Southern California.
