The front: Interesting background here. A dugout? Some
random fence wall in spring training? Whatever it is, it provides some visual
interest.
The back: I couldn’t find any corroboration re the
snake-hunting. Back in 2010 Night Owl speculated that he was pulling Topps’
leg.
The player: Bob Davis was a second- or third-string catcher
for the Padres and Blue Jays from 1973 to 1980. He also played in one game for
the Angels in 1981. Overall in 290 major league games he hit .197 with 6 HR and
51 RBI.
The man: He is now a Realtor at United Country Real Estate
in Lake Hudson, OK.
My collection: I have eight of his cards, from 1976 to 1981.
I would be interested in trading for 1978 Family Fun Centers Padres #9.
Living in Oklahoma now, is he? Cool!
