The front: Gura in mid wind-up on a sunny spring day.
The back: Alfredo Griffin got two of the Blue Jays’ hits
that day; Rick Bosetti got the other one. All were singles.
The player: Gura struggled for several years with the Cubs
and Yankees before blossoming with the Royals. In ten seasons in Kansas City he
went 111-78 with a 3.72 ERA, winning over 16 games three times.
The man: Gura is now into organic farming. He has also
written a guide to better pitching, called “After the Pitch”.
My collection: I have 26 of his cards, from 1971 to 1985. I
would be interested in trading for 1975 Topps Mini #557.
Really like cards which show a player was an all-star.
