Player Profile: John Alva

Check out the latest This Week in Baseball Cards at the Hall of Very Good, featuring cards of Jamie Moyer, Howard Johnson and Princess Leia.

I have one card of John Alva, from 1990 CMC.

Playing Career: John Alva played in the Braves organization between 1985 and 1991. The middle infielder had a career batting average of .228 and a fielding percentage of .955, helping to explain why he never made the majors. Perhaps most telling about his playing career is that the focus of his Greatest 21 Days profile is about how George Arias had never heard of him.

My memories: Didn’t know of him before getting his card.

Where he is now: Could not find. Anyone know where John Alva is now?

Google Autocomplete results: He is fourth when you type John Alva, between John Alvarado, a realtor in Florida, and John Alvarado JLL, a Managing Director at Jones Lang Lasalle in Dallas. Another prominent John Alva is the Global Supply Chain Manager at Rockhedge Herb Farms.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Clemente Alvarez.
