Player Profile: Garvin Alston

I have one card of Garvin Alston, from 1993 Topps.

Playing career: Garvin Alston pitched in nine games for the 1996 Rockies, going 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA.

Where he is now: He is the Oakland A’s rehab pitching coordinator.

Interesting stories: He was one of many minor leaguers recruited by UPS to work the holiday rush, which coincides with baseball’s offseason, making it a great way for ballplayers on minor league salaries to make some extra money.

My memories: Only know him from his baseball card.

Google Autocomplete results: He is sixth when you type Garvin A, between Garvin Adventures, a blog about the Garvin family of Costa Mesa, CA, and Garmin Accessories, referring to GPS equipment. There do not appear to be any other prominent Garvin Alstons.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Porfirio Altamirano.
