Outfielder Tom Vilet played in the Phillies organization from 1991 to 1993. In 93 games he hit .191 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 21 RBI and 15 SB. Now the owner of TV Realty in DeKalb, IL, he kindly answered my questions about baseball cards, and shared some personal photos as well.
"I've attached a picture of my cards and original letter from Topps. My parents had the foresight to keep the letter. I never thought about it in my early 20's. At 51 years old, it is odd to have received 3 different letters with cards to sign in the last 2 weeks. All three wanted the cards signed by a blue sharpie. I never realized someone would prefer blue over a black sharpie. My dad still gives me a complete Topps set each year for Christmas."
Thanks! Here is a card of him from my collection.
That letter is really cool.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good looking display that he's got there, kudos to his parents for keeping that letter.
