Player Profile: Clemente Alvarez

I have one card of Clemente Alvarez, from 1993 Bowman.

Playing career: Catcher Clemente Alvarez appeared in two games for the 2000 Phillies as a 32-year old rookie. He went one for five with a run scored. He had started his career in the White Sox organization thirteen years earlier.

Where he is now: After 2000 he became the Phillies bullpen catcher, and is now a minor league coach for the organization.

My memories: Didn’t know of him before getting his card.

Google Autocomplete results: He is fifth when you type Clemente Al, between Clemente Alvear, a Talent Acquisition Manager at ING Americas, and Clemente Althaus, an educational institution in Peru. Clemente Alvarez is also the name of a hospital in Argentina.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Gabe Alvarez.
