Player Profile: Alfredo Amezaga

Playing career: Utilityman Alfredo Amezaga came up with the Anaheim Angels in 2002. He was a semi-regular for the Marlins from 2006 to 2008, getting 300-400 at-bats each season.

Where he is now: After spending all of 2010 in the minors, he came back to the majors with the Rockies this season, hitting .242 in 20 games. On August 6 he was traded to the Marlins and hit .136 in 20 games. The Marlins released him on September 8.

My memories: I used to confuse him with fellow Marlin Armando Almanza.

Interesting stories: He is a huge Metallica fan. His favorite songs are One, The Unforgiven, Ride the Lightning and Last Caress.

Google Autocomplete results: He is fourth when you type Alfredo A, between Alfredo Angulo, a boxer, and Alfredo Axtmayer, an orthopedic surgeon. There do not appear to be any other prominent Alfredo Amezagas.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Mike Anaya.
