One more 1987 Topps piece of detective work

This one was pretty easy. Charlie Moore throwing in to second - Willie Randolph is the batter. If you are a Yankee fan, it is not hard to guess who the runner is - Willie used to bat second, right behind Rickey Henderson. But was this one of Rickey's rare caught stealings?

No.

Rickey stole second base in the fifth inning of the Yankees' 3-2 win vs. Milwaukee. Randolph then grounded out in the next at-bat.

Charlie Moore fans shouldn't feel too bad, though; he was one-for-three at the plate and had gunned down Bobby Meacham trying to steal just before Rickey's successful attempt.

  1. And here I've spent the past 22 years thinking that was Dave Winfield!
