Danny Heep
The player: Danny Heep was a backup outfielder for five
teams over his thirteen year career, winning World Series rings with the 1986
Mets and 1988 Dodgers. In 883 games he hit .257 with 30 HR and 229 RBI.
The man: Heep was a college coach for 20 years, winning over
500 games. He is now the head coach at Central Catholic High School in San
Antonio.
My collection: I have 34 of his cards, from 1981 to 1991. I
would be interested in trading for 1988 Mothers Cookies #20.
Alan Knicely
The player: Knicely was a backup catcher for four teams from
1979 to 1986. In 228 games he hit .213 with 12 HR and 61 RBI.
The man: Knicely seems to have kept a very low profile
during and after his baseball career.
My collection: I have 10 of his cards, from 1980 to 1986. I
would be interested in trading for 1980 TCMA Tucson Toros #14
Bobby Sprowl
The player: Sprowl was called up by the Red Sox in late 1978
and lost two games during the team’s September collapse, including not getting
out of the first inning against the Yankees in the fourth game of the “Boston
Massacre”, the Yankees’ four-game sweep in Fenway Park. He was traded to the
Astros in 1979 and appeared in 18 games for them over the next three seasons.
The man: For over 30 years, he has been the head coach at
Shelton State Community College in Alabama.
My collection: I have two of his cards, from 1981 and 1982.
I would be interested in trading for 1980 TCMA Tucson Toros #6.
