Hobbies are golf, Sega Genesis and ping pong: Belle was
accused of hitting a fan in the face with a ping pong paddle at a nightclub
late in the 1993 season. The next year he brought a ping pong table into the
Indians clubhouse; it stayed until 2000 when manager Charlie Manuel removed it
for being a distraction.
Favorite sports announcer is Dave Nelson: Nelson was at
various time an announcer and a coach for the Indians.
Favorite player as a kid was Eddie Murray: Murray and Belle
would become teammates on the Indians.
Might have been a doctor if he hadn’t been an athlete: He
did not go into medicine after his baseball career.
Where he is now: Recently arrested at spring training for
DUI and indecent exposure.
