Wes Helms on baseball cards

Infielder Wes Helms played 13 seasons in the major leagues for the Braves, Brewers, Marlins and Phillies. In 1,212 games he hit .256 with 75 HR and 374 RBI. Now a coach for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the Phillies organization, he kindly answered my questions about baseball cards.

"When I was a kid I collected baseball cards all the time. Would trade with my friends and buy them as I got money. I used to love that they put a stick of gum in the pack of cards. I loved Don Mattingly’s rookie card. I still have tons of the cards I had as a kid. It is an honor for me to personally have my own baseball cards. My kids love looking at them and showing their friends."

Thanks!
