years.

Andy “The Merchant of” Benes and Andy Benes “the Menace”.
Favorite player as a kid was Ozzie Smith: Benes grew up a
Cardinals fan and got to play with Ozzie in his last seasons.
Most prized possession is his Olympic Gold Medal: Another
member of the Olympic team; Benes never won a World Series, though.
Might have been a doctor if he hadn’t been an athlete: Benes
did not go into medicine after his baseball career.
Pet peeve is rudeness when seeking autographs: It is amazing
that people do that.
Where he is now: Owner of the St. Louis Prospects youth team.
