The Grosvenor Private Boarding Stable was built in the 1870s, possibly connected to the nearby Grosvenor Hotel which was opened in 1871. By 1900 it had been converted to a private residence, and owners of the building included famous entertainment personalities Maurice Evans, Edward Albee and Jerry Herman. The sign which possibly dates to the nineteenth century when it was a horse stable still hangs over the entrance today.
