Player Profile: Robert Andino

I have one card of Robert Andino, from 2008 Multi-Ad Albuquerque Isotopes.

Playing career: Shortstop Robert Andino came up with the Marlins in 2005, and was traded to the Orioles before the 2009 season. This year was his first season with extended playing time in the major leagues.

Where he is now: The regular shortstop for the Orioles in 2011, he hit .263 with 5 HR, 36 RBI and 13 SB.

My memories: I was at the Yankees-Orioles game on July 31. The Yankee Stadium scoreboard displayed two different pictures of Andino when he came to bat. The first had him with a huge smile, almost laughing at the camera, very unusual for a player picture on a scoreboard, especially for the visiting team. Later in the game they showed a more typical mugshot.

Google Autocomplete results: He is ninth when you type Robert And, between Robert and Cortney Novogratz, real estate investors, and Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison, photographers. There do not appear to be any other prominent Robert Andinos.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Rob Andrews.
