Player Profile: Willie Adams

I have five cards of Willie Adams. This one is from 1997 Topps.

Playing career: Willie Adams pitched two seasons for the Oakland A’s. In 24 starts he was 6-9 with a 5.81 ERA.

My memories: Vaguely remember him as an A’s pitcher in the mid-1990s.

Where he is now: Could not find. Any readers know where Willie Adams is now?

Interesting stories: Adams, who is allergic to fur, wanted a pet in high school, and liked his girlfriend’s iguana. So, he got an iguana and it became the high school baseball team mascot.

Google Autocomplete Results: Willie Adams is third when you type in Willie Ad, between Willie Adama, a character on Battlestar Galactica, and Willie Adler Gear, referring to musical gear from the guitarist for the band Lamb of God. The baseball player is third when you type in Willie Adams, after a Canadian politician and a karate grand master from California.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Joel Adamson.
