Player Profile: Jeremy Accardo

I have two Jeremy Accardo cards. This one is from 2006 Upper Deck Artifacts.

Playing Career: Jeremy Accardo made his major league debut with the Giants in 2005. Traded to Toronto in 2006, his ERAs and saves totals in his five years in Toronto show how unreliable it can be to project a reliever based on previous year's performance:
2006: 5.97 ERA, 0 saves
2007: 2.14 ERA, 30 saves
2008: 6.57 ERA, 4 saves
2009: 2.55 ERA, 1 save
2010: 8.10 ERA, 0 saves
While it is easy for the baseball fan to look at these numbers, it is much harder to be the person living through them. Accardo's tenure in Toronto was full of conflict, including his throwing his Blue Jays hat in a garbage can last year. He signed with Baltimore as a free agent after the 2010 season.

Where he is now: In the Baltimore bullpen. He is 3-1 with a 3.96 ERA and 0 saves. He most recently pitched on May 29, pitching a scoreless inning and a third in a loss to Oakland.

My memories: I was vaguely aware of him with Toronto, but can't say I really have any specific memories of him.

Google Autocomplete results: He is first when you type Jeremy Ac, before Jeremy Acosta of the UC Santa Barbara track team. There do not appear to be any other prominent Jeremy Accardos.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Juan Acevedo.
