The "Topps Pitching Matchup" was A.J. Burnett vs. Brian Tallet. Neither was overpowering but both were solid.
Got to see an A-Bomb from A-Rod!
And a homer from Robbie Cano, don't you know!

Other highlights included a bases-loaded walk by Mark Teixeira . . .
. . . and Johnny Damon scoring on a wild pitch.
Yankee-killer Vernon Wells was the big hitter for Toronto, with a double and a homer, but the Yankees were able to keep the rest of the Jays in check.

Mo pitched a scoreless ninth for his 503rd save. Nothing better than seeing him in a game.
The weirdest part about the game is that both teams wore red hats (but blue batting helmets). They didn't explain why at the ballpark - maybe some 4th of July promotion? The Yankees looked like Cardinals for a day.

Still, the red hats brought the Yankees luck, so I shouldn't complain.
Yeah, all the teams wore red hats today for the 4th weekend. I assume they'll do it Saturday, too.
ReplyDeleteI watched part of the game on TV. Maybe I saw you.
