First baseman Steve Hendricks played in the Padres and Red Sox organizations from 1987 to 1991. In 511 games he hit .274 with 37 HR and 311 RBI. A fuller account of his career can be found at The Greatest 21 Days. He is now a youth baseball coach in San Clemente, CA.
His is one of several cards whose photos was taken at The Crescent, the big local department store. (It's hard enough to tell even looking at the card in person, but the box on top of the counter says The Crescent). Crescent memorabilia available online include a receipt for $9 and a matchbook cover for $4.
