Player Profile: Greg Anthony

I have five cards of Greg Anthony. This one is from 1992 Front Row.

Playing career: The Padres’ #1 draft pick in 1991, Greg Anthony never got above A ball, going 8-13 with a 4.18 ERA in 37 minor league games.

My memories: Only knew him from his baseball cards, the 1992 Topps card featuring him in his amazing paisley shirt, and his 1992 Classic Best card featuring him looking like he’s fielding a ground ball. As a result, I always thought of him as an infielder, not a pitcher. Guess I should read the backs of baseball cards more often.

Where he is now: Anyone know where Greg Anthony is now?

Google Autocomplete results: He is second when you type Greg A, between Gregg Allman, a rock and blues singer, and Greg Ayres, an anime voice actor. None of the results on the first page when you google Greg Anthony refer to the baseball player; most refer to the former Knicks guard.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Mark Anthony.
