One of the great swings in baseball history.
Boggs didn't have a diet of "only chicken". That would be really unhealthy and gross, like drinking 70 beers on one flight. He just would eat chicken before every game. Boggs was actually an excellent quarterback in high school, though even then his baseball talents were clearly going to be his best chance for success. He moved to kicking and punting his senior year to avoid inury, and was so good he was offered a full scholarship to play football at the University of South Carolina.

I had no idea about Boggs' high school football history. Impressive!

ReplyDeleteDidn't realize Boggs was such a stellar football player. Always impressed by athletes who play and excel at multiple sports.
ReplyDeleteGood Lord look at that .354 lifetime average - I think he was only behind Joe Jackson and Ty Cobb at that time.
