The front: Price is pitching at Shea Stadium, making this photo from July 27, 1980. After starter Charlie Liebrandt struggled to hold an early 7-1 lead, Price came into a 7-4 game with the bases loaded and nobody out in the fourth inning. He retired Steve Henderson, Joel Youngblood and Jerry Morales, and pitched a shutout six innings to get the win as Cinci triumphed, 10-4.
The back: Price's 1977 Billings numbers don't look that hot, but at 6-5 with a 3.73 ERA he was far and away the best pitcher on a team that went 23-46. The only other player on that team to reach the majors was infielder Tom Foley.
The player: Price had a solid 11-year career as a middle reliever/spot starter for the Reds, Giants, Red Sox and Orioles. In 372 games (84 starts) he went 45-49 with 13 saves and a 3.65 ERA.
The man: Price is now a realtor in Sarasota, FL.
My collection: I have 35 of his cards, from 1981 to 1991. I would be interested in trading for 1989 Mothers Cookies #26.
