Nice cards for an unbeatable price

This is my third time getting free cards from a fellow who had initially posted on Craigslist years ago. Every year or so he has given me a few hundred mid-to-late 90s cards. This go-around was heavier on stars and rookies. I asked him if he wanted any cards in return - he was a Mets fan whose favorite player was Rico Brogna, so I gave him a few Brognas.

Here are some highlights, including some of the stars most highly represented.

Jeff Bagwell. Very consistent swing.
  David Cone.
Hideo Nomo (there were several others as well)
 Bernie Williams!
Andy Pettitte had some really nice cards, especially that SPX on the bottom. It doesn't show up in the photo but there is a hologram headshot in the swoosh.
This card was the one I was the most excited to receive. Why? About ten years ago I accidentally traded away my only copy to another blogger. Very happy to get one back.
I love these Leaf Steel cards. They are made out of real metal and have a real weight and heft to them. Heck, I even like the clanking sound when you sort through a few of them.
I thought all 1996 SP had blue borders. This one and a couple others had yellowish/goldish borders. It does not appear that there were color parallels in this set from what I read online. I guess some cards just had different borders?
All in there were about 800 cards, and I needed almost exactly half of them, which is pretty impressive for this era. Needless to say, all the rest are open for trade, including many of the cards in the player collections above.

Now that I am buying vintage cards (just made another fairly large purchase on that front) I am less inclined to buy modern cards, so it is nice to get free cards to feed that part of my collection. The same guy should have one more round of cards for me next week, and this weekend I should be picking up 125,000 free cards - though they are "mostly late 1980s commons" so I'll hold off on getting excited about that until I see the cards.
