1981 Topps Ed Ott

The front: Kind of a funny picture of the heavyset catcher resting his arms on his belly.

The back: Ott went to Muncy High School in Muncy, PA.

The player: Catcher Ed Ott played eight seasons in the major leagues, seven of them for the Pirates. His best year was 1979, when he hit .273 with 7 HR and 51 RBI, as the Pirates won the World Series (Ott hit .333 with a double in that series). Overall, in 567 games he hit .259 with 33 HR and 195 RBI.

The man: Ott was a minor league coach for many years and is now retired.

My collection: I have 14 of his cards, from 1976 to 1983. I would be interested in trading for 1979 Hostess #31.
