Hobbies are building model cars and playing basketball: I
wonder what kind of cars these were.
Favorite sports announcer is Dick Vitale: I guess he likes
watching basketball, too.
Favorite players as a kid were Jim Rice and Bobby Bonds:
Burks broke in with the Red Sox as a teammate of Jim Rice. Rice warned Burks of
the racism in Boston and told him to “leave the city as fast as he could”.
Might have been a lawyer if he hadn’t been an athlete: Burks
has not gone into the law field (and does not seem to have had legal troubles
either).
Pet peeve is rudeness: Burks always had a reputation for a
good personality.
Where he is now: Was an instructor for the Giants this
spring training.
