Player Profile: Reggie Baldwin

I have one card of Reggie Baldwin, from 1980 Topps.

Playing career: Catcher Reggie Baldwin played for the Astros in 1978 and 1979. The opposite of a “three true outcomes” player, in 90 plate appearances, he hit one home run, walked three times and struck out just four times. His minor league numbers are even more amazing: 1,385 plate appearances, 29 HR, 36 walks and just 80 strikeouts.

Where he is now: He joined the ministry after retiring from baseball in 1980 and is the Co-Founder and Apostle of Antioch International Ministries in Michigan.

My memories: Only know him from his card.

Google Autocomplete results: He is fifth when you type Reggie Bal, between Reggie Ball Georgia Tech Stats and Reggie Ball College Stats, which refer to the quarterback. Another prominent Reggie Baldwin is a technician at Autodesk Discreet.

Coming up next: The next profile will be John Bale.
