Hobby is listening to salsa and merengue music: In 2004, his
last season with the Cubs, Sosa played the same salsa CD very loudly on his boombox
in the Cubs clubhouse. On the last day of the season someone smashed that
boombox during the game. The perpetrator was never discovered.
Favorite sports announcer is Harry Caray: Sosa was in his
first season with the Cubs and already Caray was his favorite.
Might have been a lawyer if he hadn’t been an athlete: Sosa
did not go into the law after his playing career.
Where he is now: He has mostly kept a low profile since his
retirement, getting the most notoriety for bleaching his skin.
I was a huge Sosa fan back in the day. It's sad what happened to his reputation, but it was all self-inflicted. The Jeremy Schaap interview he just did for E:60 was bizarre.
