Player Profile: Bernardo Brito

I have five cards of Bernardo Brito. This one is from 1993 Pinnacle.

Playing career: Bernard Brito put together nine consecutive seasons of 18+ home runs in the minor leagues before finally being called up to the Twins at the age of 28 in 1992. He played for the Twins for 40 games between 1992 and 1995, hitting .219 with 5 HR and 12 RBI. However, in 1,470 minor league games the slugger hit .270 with 293 HR and 1008 RBI. A fuller account of his career can be found at The Greatest 21 Days.

Where he is now: Head coach of the Dominican Baseball Academy in San Cristobal.

My memories: Only know him from his card.

Google Autocomplete results: He is second when you type Bernard Br, between Bernard Britto, a filmmaker, and Bernardo Braga, an MMA fighter. Another prominent Bernardo Brito is a finance professional in New York.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Eude Brito.

  1. He was one of my heroes in high school for sure. I went to a lot of Portland Beavers games around the time he was crushing balls all over the place in AAA. He definitely fits the profile of your typical quad-A player, but I don't think he really got enough of a look in the majors to know for sure.

  2. I have what I believe is a complete collection of Bernardo Brito cards:

I wish I could find photos of the years he had no cards issued so I could get some customs made to fill in the gaps.
