Baseball card stories from Scott Lewis

Scott Lewis pitched five seasons for the California Angels. His best season was 1992, when he went 4-0 with a 3.99 ERA. Now the owner of S.A. Lewis Construction in Newport Beach, CA and Principal at RayGen, a clean energy company, he kindly answered my questions about baseball cards.

"The only stories I have about cards would be a card in which I was wearing a glove that I was not supposed to be wearing.  I was under contract with Rawlings and wore an SSK glove on a nationally televised game that subsequently resulted in a baseball card being shot the same night.  Needless to say Rawlings was not happy about it.

Favorite card would be Upper Deck because it was my first official card made.  They were a local company out of Yorba Linda and I toured the factory which was kind of special.

Lastly, my Dad and I collected a few cards while I was playing and my son has some special cards that I still do not know the real value of but they are very unique proofs."
Thanks!

  1. That was a great story about Scott's glove. Very cool that he shared that with you.
