Player Profile: Willie Blair

I have 33 cards of Willie Blair. This one is from 1998 Topps.

Playing career: Willie Blair pitched twelve seasons in the major leagues for eight different teams. His best season was 1997 when he went 16-8 for Detroit. Overall, in 418 games he went 60-86 with a 5.04 ERA.

Where he is now: Bullpen coach for the San Diego Padres.

My memories: In 2012 he shared his thoughts on baseball cards with this blog.

Google Autocomplete results: He is third when you type Willie Bl, between Willie Black, referring to a character in the movie Gridiron Gang, and Willie Blige, Commuter Tech at the NYC Department of Education. Another prominent Willie Blair is a surgeon in Maryland.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Casey Blake.
