The front: Standard posed pitcher shot.
The back: Sadly, the internet is quiet about the song Krukow
wrote. However, Wrigley Wax has noted that both Krukow and Sutter messed around
with the photographer for Fleer in 1980, with both players appearing out of
position in their photos (Krukow as a catcher, Sutter as a hitter).
The player: Krukow was a decent, but unspectacular
middle-of-the-rotation starter for the Cubs, Phillies and Giants from 1976 to
1989. He had one career season – (20-9, 3.05 ERA for the 1986 Giants) but only
topped 11 victories one other time. Overall, in 369 games he went 124-117 with
a 3.90 ERA.
The man: Krukow has been an announcer for the Giants for
almost 30 years.
My collection: I have 45 of his cards, from 1977 to 1990. I
would be interested in trading for 1982 Fleer Stamps #92.
