1981 Topps Mike Phillips

The front: Another spring training shot in front of the batting cage.

The back: Phillips hit a walk-off single off of Steve Rogers to win the game in the bottom of the ninth on May 15, 1979. Rogers and John Denny both pitched complete games.

The player: Infielder Mike Phillips played 11 seasons for the Giants, Mets, Cardinals, Padres and Expos. In 712 games he hit .240 with 11 HR and 145 RBI.

The man: After his career, Phillips went into sports marketing, and worked for several years for both the Rangers and Royals, eventually heading up all corporate revenue for the Royals. He appears to now be retired.

My collection: I have 14 of his cards, from 1974 to 1982. I would be interested in trading for 1982 O-Pee-Chee #263.
