Player Profile: Jim Austin

I have two cards of Jim Austin. This one is from 1992 Classic Best.

Playing career: Jim Austin was an outfielder in the Expos organization from 1991 to 1993. His best season was 1991, when he hit .326 with 8 HR and 52 RBI in 71 games for Jamestown.

Where he is now: Owner of Austin Electric in Mission Viejo, CA.

My memories: Only know him from his cards.

Google Autocomplete results: He is first when you type Jim Au, ahead of Jim Aubrey, a 1960s TV executive. You don’t get any results for the former Expos prospect on the first page of googling Jim Austin; you do get a pro fisherman, a photographer, and former Brewers pitcher James “Jim” Austin, among others.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Pat Austin.
