It's a scoreless game in the bottom of the 8th inning. There is a runner on second and two out. The Padres need a big hit. Padres fans cheer - Tony Gwynn is going to bat! He gets out of the on-deck circle, takes a practice swing and steps up to the plate. He digs in and gets ready to swing.
It's still a very close game, 1-0 in the top of the ninth. The visitors have a runner on third with one out. There is a fly ball to right field. Tony catches it. The runner tries to tag up to tie the game. Tony makes a perfect throw to retire the runner and end the game! Everyone shakes Tony's hand. He has a big smile. Tony Gwynn saved the day!
(Thank you Fuji for the Gwynn giveaway!)

ReplyDeleteLooks like he's playing for the Padres in all of these.
Was that from a real Padres game?
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff from Fuji!
ReplyDeleteI like when people use cards to tell a story, though I can't recall anyone ever doing it this well with a series of cards that weren't of their choosing.
