Next month will be ten years since the closing of the last Circuit City. The company began as Wards Electronic Stores in 1949 and officially changed their name to their long-standing slogan in 1984. The company went bankrupt in 2008 and closed its' stores soon after. The brand was recently revived as an online-only merchandiser.
Signage remains in the nearly-dead Source Mall in Westbury, L.I.

I spent a lot of my teen/young adult years shopping for CDs at Circuit City. Sad that so many retailers I liked are long gone. The mall you went to looks to be on its way out as well :/
ReplyDeleteOh man, I worked at a sports collectibles store at the Source Mall for a year or two in college. Your wallet card would have enjoyed it there.
ReplyDeleteDang. It's already been 10 years since CC closed its doors? Time sure flies by.
